Ultimate Alexa is a comprehensive voice assistant that utilizes the Amazon Alexa voice service. It is the first application on Google Play to support Alexa's Display Card technology, similar to the Amazon Echo Show. This feature allows users to not only hear but also see weather forecasts, to-do and shopping lists, news headlines, Wikipedia entries, and more. The app provides support for both phones and Wear OS watches. In cases where a watch does not have a speaker, the connected phone's speaker will be used.

To wake up Alexa on your phone, simply say the wake word "Alexa" or tap on the prominent button. Alternatively, you can activate Alexa from your notification area, the resizable widget, or by saying "OK Google. Start Ultimate Alexa" using the Google Assistant. Additionally, you have the option to set Ultimate Alexa as your default assistant, allowing it to constantly listen for the wake word and be activated by long-pressing your home button.

By upgrading to the Pro version, users can activate Alexa by simply shaking their phones. Samsung device owners with a Bixby button can also utilize this button to interact with Alexa using the Pro version.

On Wear OS watches, users can either tap on the noticeable button or say "OK Google. Open Alexa" to access Ultimate Alexa.

The app offers flexible control over when it listens and responds to commands, and users can choose from various Alexa voices.

Ultimate Alexa provides support for all Alexa features allowed by Amazon. This includes making phone calls, reading and sending text messages through numerous messaging apps (Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, phone's SMS app), playback of music and audio files from your device, reminders, timers, alarms (including repeating alarms), calendar entries (with the ability to hear and see them), reading Kindle books, smart home device control, access to local business information (restaurants, movies, phone numbers, etc.), news, weather, sports, traffic updates, fun and games, general information (Wikipedia entries, math, unit conversions, etc.), to-do and shopping lists (which can be seen on the screen and read aloud), shopping on Amazon, access to thousands of third-party skills, and more.

Calling and Text Messaging Availability: These features are currently available in the US, UK, Ireland, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. Music Playback: Due to restrictions imposed by Amazon, music playback through voice commands is limited to music stored on the device as well as 3rd party skills supporting music. Voice commands cannot be used to play music from Amazon or popular services such as Pandora and Spotify.

Some optional features of the app use an accessibility service. If necessary, the app will prompt users to enable this service. When replacing the Bixby assistant with Ultimate Alexa on devices running Android 9 and lower, the service monitors the current foreground app. When it detects the Bixby app in the foreground, it launches Ultimate Alexa to replace it. Additionally, the service enables microphone sharing with other apps by pausing wake word listening whenever another app requires microphone access.
